Non sequiturs and red Non sequiturs and red herrings abound in this post. “…why has the church become known for obsessing over six verses that may or may not refer to what we now understand is a homosexual orientation (that they certainly did not when the Bible was written)?” Obviously, marriage and sexuality are important. Daneen thinks so as she made this film and wrote this blog! Why shouldn’t Christians think these issues are important?! And let’s dispense with the “six verses” canard; marriage as man and woman is established in creation and affirmed by Jesus, who was radically inclusive but also harshly judgmental toward sin. Robert Gagnon has dealt decisively with the “we understand better than biblical writers” concept as well.
I have problem with people outside of faith affirming homosexuality, but don’t try and make it square with biblical teaching- it doesn’t. At least be honest about that.

Note: the second to last Note: the second to last sentence should begin “I have no problem with…”
Sorry Andy, I just saw your Sorry Andy, I just saw your comment. Jesus did not talk about homosexuality–not at all, and the way some Christians try to make his statement about a man leaving his parents to marry somehow a statement about orientation as we understand it today just makes Christians look foolish. There are things to be wrestled with, absolutely. But we can’t pretend it’s a slam dunk. The Bible is also pro-slavery and anti-women. And yet, we have (mostly) changed our perceptions of what the “clear” meaning of certain texts are as our experience of people and culture has changed.
As for the film being on iTunes, it will one day! Please stay in touch with us on our newsletter or Facebook page (http://www.fb.com/sgamovie).
