by Alison Amyx

Believe Out Loud is delighted to announce the hiring of Timothy DuWhite, Jr. as our new program associate. In this role, DuWhite will manage online engagement across Believe Out Loud’s social networks and provide support across program areas.

DuWhite is the former program coordinator and office manager for Urban Word NYC, New York’s premier non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of literacy in our youth through the use of poetry workshops as well as Hip Hop as a means of pedagogy.

A graduate of Montclair State University, DuWhite is a professional spoken word/teaching artist focused on LGBTQ/racial justice advocacy as well as the healing nature of telling one’s story. In May 2014, DuWhite was selected to be the closing keynote speaker at the 9th Annual Queer People of Color Conference held at San Diego State University.

Believe Out Loud’s director, James Rowe, has this to say about DuWhite:

“Timothy’s focus on intersectionality and the transformative nature of dialogue are critical to our mission. We are extremely excited to welcome both his dedication and talents to our team.”
