Daneen Akers is the co-producer/director of Seventh-Gay Adventists, a character-driven documentary that follows the raw, moving, and inspiring stories of three gay and lesbian Adventists trying to navigate the deep questions of faith and belonging that come with being part of a church that won't accept them as full members. It has screened all over the country and internationally at LGBT film festivals, churches, and community spaces, creating listening spaces, often in the most unlikely places.

The film is currently in the middle of a Kickstarter campaign to bring the film to DVD/Blu-ray and digital platforms, and it's a great time to get a deal on a copy of the film and be part of making this happen.

Seventh-Gay Adventists is also being screened at festivals, churches, and community halls. Click through for screening information and to learn more.

I remember the day I first felt righteous indignation spark deep within my soul about how gays and lesbians were treated in the Seventh-day Adventist church, the denomination my family has been a part of (often in leadership roles) for five generations.
